Since our launch in 1993, Monarch Personnel has always strived for excellence in all that we do. This might involve implementing major strategic changes or simply looking after the smaller details. Whatever the challenge may be, quality standards are extremely important to us. For this reason, we were delighted to be awarded ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certi­fica­tion once again, following our audit earlier this month.

The ISO standards are valid for three years, and our audit was to determine our recer­ti­fica­tion. Throughout the three years we are audited annually to ensure we are keeping our quality standards within the parameters outlined in the policies for certi­fica­tion. This demonstrates our commitment to excellence, and receiving ISO certi­fica­tion again without a hitch is testament to the hard work and tenacity of our team, of which we are extremely proud.

Many people reading this will have heard of ISO standards but not know what they involve. Here’s a short guide with an explanation of how they affect us.

ISO 9001:2015

ISO 9001:2015 is a standard that outlines the requirements for a quality management system. Its purpose is to make businesses more efficient and help them improve customer satis­fac­tion.

A quality management system defines how an organisation meets the requirements of its customers and other stakeh­olders. For Monarch Personnel, that’s our candidates, clients and staff.

The focus is very much on continual improvement which can mean different things to different companies. The ISO 9001:2015 standard doesn’t define what the improvements should be, it is up to the company to determine its own objectives for quality and customer satis­fac­tion. Once the targets are set they must be regularly assessed. This defines the pursuit for continuous improvement.

For Monarch Personnel our main objectives are:

  • To demonstrate that every candidate is treated equally by making sure that each application follows the exact same process
  • To ensure that clients and candidates know what to expect from the recruitment process
  • To measure our performance against clearly defined objectives
  • To investigate instances where we fall short thoroughly to avoid repeating the same situation, and introduce improvements wherever possible
  • To gather meaningful feedback by surveying candidates, clients and employees to identify areas for improvement, and act upon them accordingly.

ISO 14001:2015

ISO 14001:2015 sets out the requirements for an envi­ron­mental management system. It helps businesses to improve their envi­ron­mental performance. Areas of focus are air pollution, water and sewage issues, climate change mitigation, the efficient use of resources and reduction of waste.

An envi­ron­mental management system enables a business to identify, manage, monitor and control envi­ron­mental issues. ISO 14001:2015 can be integrated into any existing ISO management system so it sits well with ISO 9001:2015.

The environment has always been a key consi­dera­tion for Monarch Personnel. For this reason we have implemented continuous improvements that mitigate our carbon footprint and enable us to work sustainably. Some of these strategies are:

  • Video interviews to avoid travel for us, clients and candidates
  • Video conferencing suites brought into our office to reduce business travel
  • Careful monitoring and measurement of any necessary business travel
  • Use of public transport rather than cars when we do have to travel for business
  • The introduction of multiple screens on desks to reduce printing and use of paper
